A gem of a place, just 60 kms from Bangalore. Makalidurga fort is atop a huge granite hillock with the same name. There is a temple as well at the summit. Fort is at a height of 1,117 m from the sea level. ( for reference, Bangalore is 920 m above the sea level)
Off-late, this place has become a go to destination for adventure seekers from Bangalore. It is an ideal day outing destination with good infrastructure available at the base including parking.
