Rock Climbing
This is a sport in which participants climb up or across a natural rock formations. The goal is to reach the summit of a formation or the endpoint of a pre-defined route. In its most basic form, climbing a route involves using one’s own hands and feet, with rope and safety equipments. Bouldering is the form of climbing which is performed without a rope and is normally limited to very short climbs over a crash pad.
Climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility, and balance along with his or her mental control. It is a sport which demands perfect mind and body coordination. Physical and Mental benefits of climbing are numerous.
First and foremost, it helps to stay fit. It also improves flexibility, improves endurance, improves coordination, ensures balance and helps burn calories!. Among the mental benefits of climbing, it makes people confident, responsible and builds trust. It can be a dangerous sport and knowledge of proper climbing techniques and usage of specialized climbing equipment is crucial for the safe completion of routes.
Ramanagram and Badami are considered to be Climber’s paradise in India. Ramanagram is located at a distance of 50kms from Bangalore and Badami is at a distance of 400kms. Ramanagram has the best climbable granites in whole of India. The place has many bolted routes of varied grades and has lot many routes still to be explored. On the other hand, Badami is full of limestone rocks which offer a completely different climbing experience when compared to Ramanagram.
Some other worth mentionable places are Savandurga, Madhugiri and Turahalli. Turahalli is great for Bouldering.
